Application
1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-ethylphosphocholine (18:0 EPC) might be used:
- to study its effect on the synergistic antimicrobial action of eugenol against Escherichia coli C600
- to test its use in the formation of lipid nanoparticle variants
- as a constituent of the microbubble formulation
- to prepare lipid monolayer for the study on the nature and orientation of interaction between graphene oxide (GO) and lipid models
Biochem/physiol Actions
Cationic lipids are useful co-adjuvants for promoting the immunogenicity of vaccines. 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-ethylphosphocholine (18:0 EPC) is a cationic lipid and is found to upregulate cluster of differentiation (CD)80 and CD86 co-stimulatory molecules. The hydrophilic moiety and the acyl chains of the cationic lipids highly influences their co-stimulatory action.

Langmuir : the ACS journal of surfaces and colloids, 34(1), 503-511 (2017-12-05)
Enclosed lipid bilayer structures, referred to as liposomes or lipid vesicles, have a wide range of biological functions, such as cellular signaling and membrane trafficking. The efficiency of cellular uptake of liposomes, a key step in many of these functions
Advanced drug delivery reviews, 64(15), 1749-1758 (2012-05-29)
Cationic liposomes are commonly used as a transfection reagent for DNA, RNA or proteins and as a co-adjuvant of antigens for vaccination trials. A high density of positive charges close to cell surface is likely to be recognized as a

Synthetic cationic lipids can be used as DNA carriers and are regarded to be the most promising non-viral gene carriers. For this investigation, six novel phosphatidylcholine (PC) cationic derivatives with various hydrophobic moieties were synthesized and their transfection efficiencies for
Biochimica et biophysica acta, 1768(2), 375-386 (2006-12-13)
Lipoplexes containing a mixture of cationic phospholipids dioleoylethylphosphatidylcholine (EDOPC) and dilauroylethylphosphatidylcholine (EDLPC) are known to be far more efficient agents in transfection of cultured primary endothelial cells than are lipoplexes containing either lipid alone. The large magnitude of the synergy
Molecular pharmaceutics, 4(4), 615-623 (2007-04-06)
To date, the primary approach to improving the transfection properties of cationic lipids has been the synthesis of new kinds of cationic amphipaths. Recently, however, it was found that combining two cationic lipid derivatives having the same head group but
