Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic which is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The drug is primarily used to treat urinary tract infections.

Application

Nitrofurantoin has been used as a reference standard for the determination of nitrofurantoin in milk by high-performance liquid chromatography with electrochemical detection.
