General description

L-α-phosphatidylinositol (Soy) is a naturally occurring, negatively charged glycerophospholipid with an inositol ring. It is found in biological membranes, which are involved in scaffolding, cellular compartmentalization and signal transduction.

Application

Soy PI has been used in PI 3-kinase assay.

Biochem/physiol Actions

L-α-phosphatidylinositol (Soy) acts as a cellular mediator in signal transduction processes. It is used to design therapeutic delivery vehicles for drug delivery. Soy PI also contributes to the regulation of cholesterol metabolism.

Liposomes consisted of phosphatidylinositol (PI) and phosphatidylcholine (PC) have been utilized as delivery vehicle for drugs and proteins. In the present work, we studied the effect of soy PI on physical properties of 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DMPC) liposomes such as phase state

Phosphatidylinositol-transfer proteins (PITPs) are key regulators of lipid signaling in eukaryotic cells. These proteins both potentiate the activities of phosphatidylinositol (PtdIns) 4-OH kinases and help channel production of specific pools of phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate (PtdIns(4)P) dedicated to specific biological outcomes.
