General description
Phosphatidylglycerol (PG) is an anionic phospholipid. Phosphatidylglycerol (PG) is mostly found in the pulmonary surfactant and localized to the alveoli.(6) Nitrobenzoxadiazole phosphoglycerol (NBD PG) is a fluorescent analog with the fluorophore, 7-nitrobenz-2-oxa-1,3-diazol-4-yl (NBD) linked to the fatty acid chain of the phosphatidylglycerol.
Application
18:1-12:0 NBD PG might be used to study the use of fluorescence as a means of tracking the gold nanoparticles (GNPs) in live cells.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Phosphatidylglycerol (PG) is involved in the inflammatory mechanism and offers protection against viral infection.(6) It also contributes to the photosynthetic activity by maintaining the structural photosynthetic apparatus.

Dietary restriction (DR) during adulthood can greatly extend lifespan and improve metabolic health in diverse species. However, whether DR in mammals is still effective when applied for the first time at old age remains elusive. Here, we report results of

Synthesis of biogenic membranes requires transbilayer movement of lipid-linked sugar molecules. This biological process, which is fundamental in prokaryotic cells, remains as yet not clearly understood. In order to obtain insights into the molecular basis of its mode of action

Phosphatidylglycerol (PG) is considered to play an important role in the ordered assembly and structural maintenance of the photosynthetic apparatus in thylakoid membranes. However, its function in photosynthesis remains poorly understood. In this study we have identified a pgsA gene
