Pimprinine is an indole alkaloid extracted from Streptomyces species that exhibits anticonvulsant activity. Pimprinine is a potent MAO inhibitor. Also, Pimprinine effectively inhibits replication of enterovirus 71 (EV71) and adenovirus 7 (ADV-7).
