Cell Line Description

P3x63Ag8U.1 is a derivative of the P3x63Ag8 cell line (Sigma Catalogue number. 85011401) from the mouse myeloma MOPC21, which was derived from a female BALB/c mouse. This variant no longer synthesises gamma-1 chains but still produces kappa light chains which are not secreted.

Application

This cell line is useful for fusion to spleen cells to produce hybridomas or for hybridisation studies with other myelomas or lymphomas. Can also be used for immunoglobulin production.

Culture Medium

DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 1% Non Essential Amino Acids (NEAA) + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).

Subculture Routine

Maintain cultures at 5-9x100,000 cells/ml; 5% CO2; 37°C.
