Gene Information

human ... IBSP(3381)

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide directed towards the N terminal region of human IBSP

Biochem/physiol Actions

The protein encoded by the IBSP gene is a major structural protein of the bone matrix. It constitutes approximately 12% of the noncollagenous proteins in human bone and is synthesized by skeletal-associated cell types, including hypertrophic chondrocytes, osteoblasts, osteocytes, and osteoclasts. The only extraskeletal site of its synthesis is the trophoblast. This protein binds to calcium and hydroxyapatite via its acidic amino acid clusters, and mediates cell attachment through an RGD sequence that recognizes the vitronectin receptor.

Sequence

Synthetic peptide located within the following region: SATTLGYGEDATPGTGYTGLAAIQLPKKAGDITNKATKEKESDEEEEEEE

Physical form

Purified antibody supplied in 1x PBS buffer with 0.09% (w/v) sodium azide and 2% sucrose.

Hertwig's epithelial root sheath (HERS) cells participate in cementum formation through epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Previous studies have shown that transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1) and fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2) are involved in inducing EMT. However, their involvement in
