Biochem/physiol Actions

EUK-8 is a salen manganese complex that exhibit potent antioxidant activities. EUK-8 is a superoxide dismutase (SOD) that inhibits amyloid fibril formation, including islet amyloid polypeptide (IAPP), β-amyloid and lysozyme amyloid aggregation. It appears that EUK-8 disrupts the pre-formed amyloid fibrils. EUK-8 increases the viability of the SK-N-MC cells exposed to preformed IAPP fibrils.

Salen-manganese complexes, such as EUK-8 and EUK-134 are known as catalase mimetics with superoxide dismutase (SOD) and peroxidase mimetic activity. Here we show that the concentration-dependent use of salen-manganese complexes within the appropriate time window and with parallel control of

Oxidative stress, an imbalance between endogenous levels of oxygen radicals and antioxidative defense, increases with aging. However, it is not clear which of these two factors is the more critical. To clarify the production of oxygen radicals increases with age

This article reviews the recent progress made in asymmetric catalysis in the nanopores of mesoporous materials and periodic mesoporous organosilicas (PMOs). Some examples of chiral catalysts within the nanopores show improved catalytic performance compared to homogeneous catalysts. The factors including
