General description

Chloroform is a colorless, volatile chlorinated organic solvent whose vapors have a narcotic effect. The product contains amylene as a stabilizer, since chloroform is susceptible to degradation with time. Amylene acts as a scavenger of free radicals formed during chloroform decomposition.

Application

Chloroform has been used for the isolation of RNA from mammalian tissue.
