General description

Potassium chloride is an inorganic salt commonly used in fertilizer industry. Its generation via chlorination of microcline has been reported. The intrinsic and extrinsic conductivity of KCl crystals have been measured. The impact of KCl on the activity of mitochondrial membrane, cristae and matrix proteins has been investigated. It facilitates the preparation of isoxazolines in aqueous medium.

Application

Potassium chloride may be used for the preparation of phosphate buffered saline, and for the extraction and solubilization of proteins.

It has been used in the preparation of the following:
  • Amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) deposition solution, used for ACP coating on Ti coupons
  • Modified methylene blue (MB) solution, utilized in the MB two-phase titration method
  • 4-(2-Hydroxyethyl)-1-piperazineethanesulfonic acid (HEPES)-containing artificial cerebrospinal fluid (ACSF) solutions
  • Artificial sea water

May be used for the preparation of phosphate buffered saline, and for the extraction and solubilization of proteins.

Features and Benefits

  • Increased efficiency – Eliminate time and effort of loosening hardened powders
  • Safety – Avoid risks of using tools of force to break up clumps
  • Economy – Faster preparation and solvation increase productivity and reduce costs
  • Assured quality – Excellent, expert-tested quality with no anti-caking agents
  • Flexible volumes – Available from research amounts to scale-up quantities
