Gene Information

human ... TP63(8626)

General description

Tumor protein 63 (UniProt Q9H3D4; also known as Amplified in squamous cell carcinoma, Chronic ulcerative stomatitis protein, CUSP, Keratinocyte transcription factor KET, p40, p51, p73L, TP63, Transformation-related protein 63, Tumor protein p73-like) is encoded by the TP63 (also known as KET, P63, P73H, P73L, TP73L) gene (Gene ID 8626) in human. Tumor protein 63 is a p53 homologue that can bind p53-responsive elements to upregulate some p53 target genes and share partially overlapping functions with p53. Various functions have been ascribed to TP63 in normal squamous epithelia, including those of the esophagus and TP63 is reported to play an essential role in the maintenance of proliferative potential in epithelial stem cells. TP63 overexpression is found in various squamous epithelia carcinomas and high TP63 expression is associated with an aggressive phenotype and metastasis in many cancers.

Specificity

Expected to react with spliced isoform 2 (DeltaN-alpha, DeltaNp63 alpha, P51delNalpha), 4 (DeltaN-beta, DeltaNp63 beta, P51delNbeta), 6 (DeltaN-gamma, DeltaNp63gamma, P51delNgamma), 8 (DeltaN-delta), 10 (DeltaN-epsilon, DeltaNp73L), 12, but not isoform 1 (TA*-alpha, TAp63alpha, P51B), 3 (TA*-beta, TAp63beta), 5 (TA*-gamma, TAp63gamma, P51A), 7 (TA*-delta, TAp63delta, P51delta), 9 (TA*-epsilon), or 11 (P63 delta).

Immunogen

Epitope: Near N-terminus
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to human P40 near the N-terminus.

Application

Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A 1:100 dilution from a representative lot detected P40 in HUVEC cells.
The unconjugated version (Cat. No. MABS519) has been shown to work in WB, IH(P).
