General description

Phophotidylcholine (PC) is a major phospholipid present abundantly in eukaryotic membranes. It is originated from the Kennedy (CDP‐choline) pathway.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phophotidylcholine (PC) is involved in maintaining the integrity of membranes. Increase in levels of PC is associated with increase in cell growth. It is necessary for the myelination of nerve cells and production of very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) from hepatocytes.
