Tryptic Soy Agar
Tryptic Soy Agar (TSA), also known as Trypticase Soy Agar, Soybean Casein Digest Agar or CASO (casein peptone soybean flour peptone) Agar is a medium used in qualitative procedures to isolate and cultivate both fastidious and non-fastidious microorganisms. This nutrient medium is commonly employed for sterility testing to detect facility contamination due to its ability to support the growth of a wide array of bacteria and fungi. Moreover, it offers the advantage of an on-site monitoring system for detecting microbial contamination. Tryptic soy agar slants are used for culturing, preserving, and transporting bacterial cultures. This medium contains casein and soy peptones, which supply the essential nitrogenous compounds (amino acids and peptides) needed for bacterial growth. The appearance of the medium is clear and yellowish, with a pH value ranging from 7.1 to 7.5.
TSA for Aerobic Microbial Count in the Air
Tryptic Soy Agar is used for the growth and separation of an extensive array of bacteria, yeasts, and molds. It is also used to measure the total aerobic microbial count in the air, using either active or passive air monitoring techniques, as well as for detecting traces of personnel contamination in isolators and clean rooms.
Tryptic Soy Agar Contact ICR (Isolator and Clean Room) Plus
Tryptic Soy Agar Contact ICR plus, along with a γ-irradiated ready-to-use plate and, tryptic soy agar contact, a ready-to-use sterile plate supplemented with lecithin, polysorbate (Tween®) 80 to neutralize inhibiting substances from cleaning, are used to determine the total aerobic microbial count on dry, sanitized surfaces, as well as ON personnel in the non-critical areas.
Tryptic Soy Agar Settle Plate, a sterile, ready-to-use plate containing lecithin, Tween®, histidine, and cysteine, is used to assess the total aerobic microbial count in samples containing preservatives or in disinfectant efficacy tests.
TSA for Isolating and Cultivating Microorganisms
GranuCult® Tryptic Soy Agar, available in the form of medium granules (dehydrated culture media), is suitable for growing and isolating a diverse range of microorganisms found in various materials. Additionally, it is used in the pharmaceutical industry for quality control purposes.
Tryptic Soy Agar, Vegitone, is a non-sterile general-purpose medium free of any materials derived from animals (casein peptone is replaced by a plant peptone) and is essential for cultivating a diverse range of microorganisms.
NutriSelect® Plus Tryptic Soy Agar is a powder media used in both industry and research. It is commonly employed to cultivate and isolate fastidious or non-fastidious microorganisms from test samples. This medium is suitable for the growth of both aerobic and anaerobic microflora.
NutriSelect® Prime Tryptic Soy Agar, certified as halal and suitable for use in Halal and Kosher certified processes, is commonly employed to detect and isolate fastidious or non-fastidious microorganisms from test samples. This medium is suitable for the growth of both aerobic and anaerobic microflora.
Tryptic Soy Agar with LTHTh (Tween® 80, Lecithin, Histidine, and Sodium Thiosulfate), a complex, nutrient-rich, inhibitor-free microbial medium, is used in the cultivation and isolation of delicate bacteria, yeasts, and molds. Tween® 80, Lecithin, Histidine, and Sodium Thiosulfate neutralize inhibiting substances from cleaning, disinfection, or preservatives.
Milliflex® Cassette
Milliflex® Cassette, pre-filled with tryptic soy agar, polysorbate 80, and lecithin, is a ready-to-use agar-based medium (pre-poured agar plate) designed for use with the Milliflex® or Milliflex Oasis® system. It is employed in bioburden testing and general microbiological analysis to assess the effectiveness of sanitation procedures for containers, equipment, and surfaces, as well as for water-miscible cosmetic products.
NutriSelect® prime Tryptic Soy Agar halal with Lecithin and Polysorbate 80
NutriSelect® prime Tryptic Soy Agar, certified as halal and containing Lecithin and Polysorbate 80, is used for enumerating and detecting aerobic mesophilic microorganisms found in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and products with preservatives. Additionally, it is used to assess the effectiveness of sanitation procedures for containers, equipment, and work areas. It can be used in Halal and Kosher certified processes.
IsoBag® Tryptic Soy Agar Contact
The IsoBag® Tryptic Soy Agar Contact with Lecithin and Tween® is a sterile polyurethane DPTE beta bag designed for the rapid and convenient transfer of culture media. It is used for surface monitoring within isolators or restricted access barrier systems (RABS).
Agar Strips TC (Total Count)
Agar Strips are ready-to-use culture media filled in a flexible backing film, designed for monitoring ambient air and compressed gases using RCS® Air Samplers.
Contact DC (Disinfection Control)
Envirocheck™ Contact DC consists of flexible paddles coated with tryptic soy agar, allowing for a semi-quantitative assessment of microorganisms on surfaces and in liquids to evaluate disinfection efficacy. Slide A is coated with CASO agar for assessing the total viable (aerobic) count. Slide B is coated with CASO agar containing polysorbate 80, sodium thiosulphate, lecithin, and histidine to enable the growth of bacteria that may be temporarily inhibited by sanitation or disinfection but remain viable.
